I have painstakingly accumulated these devastating techniques, training methods and ideas from the worlds best operators and shooters for over twenty years now, and the one huge advantage I have had is this - I loved to shoot and learn. Understand that... I don’t just like to shoot and learn, I LOVE it.

No opportunity to shoot and learn cost me too much, no technique was too obscure or unimportant for me to learn and seriously try out, no idea was too obscure for me to it let slip by. For instance, I would watch certain groups of proficient “operators” in one weapons system having a tough go at it with another, and absolutely use another weapons system to it’s fullest potential, and then, while watching, training with them and asking a lot of questions of them, I was able to show them the core principals and proven methods that translated to EVERYTHING that they did. I was able to completely integrate their training techniques into their well established training philosophies by distilling down simple, easy to understand principles and showing them where they were failing to make the connection between the reality of their situation and the use of their training techniques.

And you know what? Often these teams had some of the worlds most popular and renowned competitive shooters as their mentors. I’m talking about real proven shooters who had real expertise to give... And while the teams shooting did improve on the range, often, they couldn’t make basic connections of why certain drills, while improving their competitive speed and accuracy, were actually detrimental to their training and real world survival.

Allow me to give you an example.

About a year ago, I was out shooting with some special friends who kick in doors almost every night. And while I had just listened to one of their top door kickers give a lecture and shooting demonstration that was tactically sound, within 30 minutes of his lecture he was teaching a different drill against multiple targets that made absolutely no sense to me and contravened what he had just spoken about. In a moment of privacy, I pulled him to the side and pointed this out to him.

You could see the gears in his head spinning as he was trying to legitimize what he had taught with what he was now doing. To his credit, he admitted “That’s just the way I was taught to shoot that drill, and I have always done it that way... But now I see that I have been training wrong, and just because someone of fame showed me a cool shooting drill, I accepted it as gospel and ingrained bad habits.” His face paled as he finally realized he had simply been beating the odds against multiple adversaries even though he knew and taught better... he was training scarred. You can bet he never trained the old competitive way again.

Don’t get me wrong, I really respect those renowned competitive shooters, I respect the years of dedication that went into making these great IPSC and IDPA shooters the great champions that they are. Heck, I even helped a team of police officers who had been languishing in obscurity for over a decade obtain top national ranking in their sport all with less than two weeks of working with them... But again, punching paper and plastic or knocking down steel are completely different than fighting against living people or other dangerous animals that want to kill you and are actively FIGHTING BACK.

My point here is; the techniques that I have accumulated over twenty years are meant to help you win a fight for life against real live beings intent on doing you harm or killing you, not a non-lethal competition against other shooters who are shooting at paper, plastic and steal. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.”
